Film Festival Shines
The Maui Film Festival at Wailea once again brought laughter, tears, and all
around pleasure to thousands of people. This year’s festival had numerous
luminaries (celebrities in festival speak), fine food, and fun events that were
just the frosting on another wonderful selection of enlightening and entertaining
movies. If you haven’t been to this event please consider it in your plans
for next year’s tenth annual festival to be held again in mid-June.
Beachwalk Re-Opening
In the last newsletter it was noted that the beach path fronting Maluhia was
closed due to the dangerous condition of the existing plastic walkway. At the
time Maluhia was awaiting approval from the County to remedy the situation.
We are happy to say that approval was given to open an eight foot wide path
in place of the plastic walkway, and it is now open. This was the only option
considered appropriate by the County Planning Department. Additional sand was
brought in by Maluhia to enhance the contours of the path, which will be maintained
by their management in accordance with the County requirement.
